I.C.U. Syndrome

Janis called and asked us to be praying for Emily. She is experiencing I.C.U. Syndrome. Having had other family members in extensive I.C.U., I wondered if Emily might not experience it since she's been in there so long. I.C.U. Syndrome is caused by being in an enclosed room with constant light---where the patient loses orientation of day or night. Because of that, they usually have sleep deprivation, stress, anxiety and irritability. It's often accompanied with hallucinations.
Emily had a bad afternoon. (You can see the roller coaster ride the family is on---good news one minute, and not-so-good news the next!) Emily pulled her feeding tube out this afternoon. They finally talked her in to putting it back in. Janis asked us to pray that Emily's intestines would start doing their job. Her stomach is full of bile and it causes the nausea and vomiting. Emily has no idea how far she's come. She's just frustrated with the way things are and wants things to change quickly. They also had her using the T-bar with her trach which blows air across the trach which makes Emily work harder to breathe on her own. It exhausted her.
Prayer Requests:
*That the I.C.U. Syndrome stops
*For Emily's intestines to start working well
*That Emily works hard at getting off of the vent
*That God's peace would fill Emily's room and heart

Psalm 90:17
"May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands."

Father,
I'm asking you to bind the I.C.U. Syndrome from Emily. Loose Your peace, Your healing, Your Spirit in that room and in Emily's heart. Please bring encouragement to her. Let her see measured steps of accomplishment that give her hope. Be her Helper, her Counselor. Fill her with determination to overcome! Use that stubbornness for her benefit! Thank You, Father, for all You're doing in Emily's life. Bless her family tonight with rest, encouragement and hope. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Praying for Emily's healing. I do not know her, but the Great Physician does.

I woke up at 5 am this morning,
with thoughts and prayer for Emily.
I hadn't read the blog from last night about ICU Syndrome, but woke up knowing I wanted to read the latest thing. So sad to hear how
her afernoon was yesterday, but know God is still with her, and believe that He will solve this latest obstacle in her recovery. I'm spending much of this day in prayer for her, Luke, Janis and Kim, and all of the family and friends who love her. Father, thank you for all you have done in her life and her recovery and please be with her today, speaking encouragement to her heart and mind. In Jesus' name...Amen
