Janis & Kim both called this morning to tell us that Emily's urine output is up! YEA!! That's news we want to hear. (I can only imagine Emily's embarrassment later over us discussing this with the whole world! And literally, people all over the world are reading this blog. Amazing!) The lung doctor's partner who is on call this weekend came by and said her lungs look great. Which is more great news. He told them he didn't see why she couldn't come off of the respirator in a couple of days. Luke & Janis just laughed. They said they'd heard that a few times now. But who knows? Maybe God is about to do a new thing. He also told them that she's basically breathing on her own right now.
Janis said she may look a little more jaundiced today. Emily has a little bit of a fever. They also said her white blood cell count is up some which means there may be a little infection. The good news is that they know it's not in her lungs. So please pray that God heals that infection.
Emily had her eyes open today. Luke had brought an MP3 player and was letting Emily listen to praise music. They're also talking to her--and she has responded to them. I think that's going to do a world of good! Pray that Emily is encouraged today.
Janis told me last night that Luke had warned her that he snored. I was concerned that Janis might not get some much-needed rest. But she said Luke does not snore---at least according to her standards. So they both got some rest. She left her Bible at home, so she's thinking about getting out today and finding a new one that she'll leave with Emily later. I know it will be good for her to get out and do something "normal" today. And she knows just what she wants.
I haven't heard how the kids are doing. But they're with Grandma & Grandpa---I'm sure they're having a blast out in the country!
Please continue praying. God is definitely at work!!
