Catch 22

I talked to Kim tonight and she said she talked to a nurse this morning and Emily is really in a Catch 22. Her blood pressure has been low---too low to do the normal dialysis to remove fluid from Emily's body. They've done the normal filtering of the blood like the kidneys would do. But she really needs the fluid pulled off because she has a little fluid in her lungs. It's still the kidneys. We need her kidneys to work!!
On the flip side, Emily was more alert today. She was moving hands and feet and responding to questions.
Mike & Jonathan, Emily's dad and brother, may be going back to Albuquerque after they take Emily off of the ventilator. They hope to take her off of the vent tomorrow.
Janis, Emily's mom, has been watching the kids most of the time. I know they love having their "Oma" around. I also know Janis must be very torn about where to be---with the grandkids or with Emily. Please be praying for the family as they work out schedules.
And pray for Luke. I can't imagine how torn he must feel. Here he has a brand new baby that he would normally be holding and rocking. But life is upside down right now.
Emily is still in critical condition. She's made some good progress...but we still have a ways to go.

Galatians 6:2
"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."

Thank you for carrying our family's burden! A big THANK YOU to those who have donated money to the Panter family. Their needs are/will be great.

Emily and Luke & kiddos,
I just want you to know that we are still praying for you. My thoughts keep returning to when we were pregnant together, you with Hannah and me with Sophie. They have grown so fast! You are constantly in our thoughts and prayers.

Jesus,
By faith, I call the things that are not as though they were. I speak to Emily's kidneys in your powerful name, and say WORK! IN THE NAME OF JESUS, WORK THE WAY YOU WERE CREATED TO WORK! Lord, do a miracle in her body tonight. Help it to wake up! Make her kidneys wake up and do their job. Thank you for how far you've brought Em up to this point. Thank you that she is breathing more and more on her own. Thank you for her responses. And thank you that her kidneys are working!
Amen!

Emily, I was thinking of you tonight as I was playing with my daughter. She will be 1 on Friday. I was thinking about the journey we took to receive her and the journey you are on now to get your life back. I can remember God's physical hand touching mine as I struggled to let go of my first daughter's life. I know God is holding your hand now singing over you his precious daughter. Sweet wonderful wife, amazing mom, a lovely woman through and through. I pray now as God stands beside you, the almighty healer, that he would touch your kidneys and bring life back into them. In the name of Jesus you are restored to the beautiful creation he made you to be. Lord, breathe life into Emily, pull her up out of this mess, redeem her Jesus. I thank you for the miracle Emily is, for the miracle Sarah is. I pray that your strength would be Luke's strength. That you would hold on to this family with your mighty love. God be glorified, be magnified in this trial. Lord I thank you for the day Emily can walk hand in hand with Luke holding her precious baby girl, leaving the place you used to heal her. God I thank you now for that miracle. In your most glorious name. AMEN

Emily,
You would be so proud of your family right now. You're going to be so amazed when you wake up and become aware of everything going on around you---the people reaching out to your family, the way Luke is hovering over you, the way your kids have rebounded, the way your parents have commanded the ship in your absence. And then there are those too far away to help---but they're pouring out their hearts to God on your behalf. They're sending money to help with your expenses. The body of Christ is in unity---over YOU! You're just going to be so amazed....
