HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOEL!

Luke is with Emily today. Janis is staying away from her since she has a cold. The nurses have told her she could still come in with a mask, but Janis has opted to stay away to protect Emily from the cold. They also told her that Emily is somewhat protected by having a trach---it filters out those harmful germs.

You're going to love this story....
Janis was with Emily last night about 6:00. Emily had the cap on her trach and was able to talk. They were still waiting on Luke to arrive. Janis realized it was November 25---her son's birthday! When she told Emily, "Oh my goodness! I need to call Joel and tell him 'happy birthday'," Emily broke out into song! And not just any song. She began singing a Christian "Happy Birthday" song in Spanish that she'd learned in Chile. She remembered every word. And Janis said the other wonderful thing about this is that it showed her that Emily's vocal cords have not been damaged. Janis then called Joel and let Emily sing the song again to her brother. Don't you think that's probably the best gift he got all day?
Praise the Lord!
And Happy Birthday, Joel!!
