You Raise Me Up

Since this blog will become a chronicle that Emily will read later to know all that took place while she was sedated, I want to include all kinds of things that happened during these days. This story is one of those things.
Luke told me this morning that last night he got in his mother's car to drive home and she had a CD playing in her CD player. Most of it was by Selah. I'm not sure this song was on that CD or if he heard it later. But he heard "You Raise Me Up" and he said he listened to the words of the song as it was being sung and it took on a whole new meaning. So I searched for the words to the song and because it was so meaningful to Luke...and to Emily's situation...I wanted to include it on the blog.

"You Raise Me Up"

When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.

There is no life - no life without its hunger;
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly;
But when you come and I am filled with wonder,
Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.

You raise me up... To more than I can be.

Emily,

We just got home from spending the day with you today. We had another good day. You're looking better and better each time I see you...praise the Lord. The doctor that took care of you at Greenville called and talked to Luke today. He wanted to know how you were doing. He reiterated what every medical person involved with you has said..that you're "lucky" to be alive. He said that he was just one person in a chain of "cosmic" events that took place to save your life.How I wish he knew the truth...that God has lavishly demonstrated His love for you in every circumstance involved with you....that He is continually reminding us of His enormous plan for you and Luke and the kids with each miracle that takes place in your life. How He is making a great name for Himself through breathing life and healing into you. Heloves you, Em, o how He loves you. There is a song that Jeff and I have sung over you as we're driving back and forth from seeing you..it's called the Desert Song. The words are so powerful. We'll listen to it when you get better, but I'm going to type the main declaration of it:

All of my life
In every season
You are still God
I have a reason to sing
I have a reason to worship

I will bring praise
I will bring praise
No weapon formed against me
shall remain
I will rejoice
I will declare
God is my victory and He is here!

I declare the Lord's favor and healing over you tonight as you rest, sweet girl. Believing for incredible miracles and mercy for tomorrow. Luke, I know we were kidding tonight about some things, but I hope you know we love you, too, more than you know. You are a blessing to us and we're here for you...for whatever you need...until our Emily is back to perfection! Love you so much!

Emily,
While you were sleeping...
*Mama had cataract surgery
*Lots of kids were dressed adorably for Fall Festivals
*Zach found out his band gets to open for Superchicks! Zach also went to the emergency room and found out he has an ulcer.
*Texas Tech beat Texas (Andy thought that was important!)
*Early voting was going on for the presidential election.
*And most importantly, your friends, family and even total strangers covered you in prayer and gave to help with your needs.
You were blessed while you're sleeping! I'm praying your body gets lots of rest while you sleep.
